Your business isn't one-size-fits-all; your point of sale shouldn't be either. Selling Modes tailor your setup to the way you sell, putting the right tools front and centre so your team can spend less time navigating and more time serving customers.
We'll recommend a mode based on your business type and from there, your point of sale system adapts to the way you work, showing the tools, features, and terminology that make the most sense for your business.

Enabling a Selling Mode
When you set up your Counter or the Yoco POS App for the first time, we'll recommend a Selling Mode to you based on the business type you selected when you signed up with Yoco. Simply follow the POS setup journey and select the Selling mode tile to explore the different modes and activate the right one for your business.
If you're already using a Yoco point of sale system, you can set or change your Selling Mode at any time from the More menu.
Tap the More tab on your Counter or in the yoco POS App.
Select Selling Mode, then browse the available modes and tap the one that fits your business best.
Tap Confirm to apply your selection.
Your point of sale system will update immediately – no restart is required.
💡 Good to know: Switching modes changes what you see on your point of sale, but it doesn't delete anything. Your products, customers, and sales history stay exactly where they are.
❗Important: Selling Modes are set per device. If you have more than one Counter or POS App-linked device, you'll need to set the mode on each device separately. This can be very useful if you have different stations set up for different purposes.
Selling Modes on portable POS
While Selling Modes is not yet available on handheld devices, the Sit-down/ Takeaway toggle will be visible on all Khumo devices, if you have Dine-in or Quick Service Mode configured on your Counter or in the Yoco POS App.
If you select the Sit-down option on your handheld device, simply tap the Assign table button to link the order to one of the tables on your Counter's Dine-in layout.
Switching Selling Modes
You can change your Selling Mode at any time without losing any of your sales data, product catalogue information, or customer records.
Tap the More tab on your Counter or in the Yoco POS App.
Tap the Selling Modes tile.
Select the Switch button next to the mode you want to change to and follow the prompts. The change will take place immediately.
