Using Order Types

Learn how to use Order Types in your point of sale system to manage sit-down and takeaway orders.

ℹ️ Order Types form part of Dine-in and Quick Service, two of five Selling Modes designed to tailor your point of sale setup to the way your business works. Click here for more on Selling Modes and how they're connected to the Yoco Plans.

Order Types, in the Sell tab of your Yoco point of sale system, helps your team stay organised during service. Whether a customer is dining in or ordering takeaway, staff can assign the correct order type on Counter, the Yoco POS App and all linked Khumo devices, making orders easier to prepare, pack and serve.

Once an order type has been assigned, it appears in the following places:

  • The Type column on the Orders tab (for both open and closed orders).

💡 Good to know: Use the Type filter to view only sit-down or only takeaway orders across any date range.

  • Order slip printouts giving your kitchen and front-of-house team the context they need to prepare, pack, and serve orders correctly.

  • Orders Report which can be found in your Reports dashboard.

Table Management (available on the Pro Plan) extends Orders and Order Types with a full view of all tables, and reporting. Click here to find out more about Table Management.

Changing an order type

If you're on the Pro Plan and you're using Table Management, changing your Order Type from Takeaway to Sit-down will mean assigning your order to one of the available tables in your Tables tab. Here's how to do it.
