With Stock Control, you can record every stock movement – incoming deliveries, transfers between locations, wastage, and more – so when the numbers don't add up, the answer's already in your records.
You can record movements in bulk from your stock list (Pro Plan only), or one product at a time (Core, Plus, and Pro Plans) by selecting an individual product.
To record stock movements, you must have Stock Tracking enabled for your products. Learn how to enable stock tracking.
Movement types
1. Transfer
Moving stock from one location to another? Record it as a transfer. Stock is automatically deducted from the source and added to the destination, so nothing falls through the cracks.
2. Received stock
Stock just arrived from a supplier? Log the quantity received against the relevant location.
3. Stock count
Counted a shelf and something doesn't match? Enter what you counted and Yoco will work out the difference to align your records with what's physically in front of you.
A stock count adjusts your quantity to match what you've entered. It's a reconciliation entry, not a full guided stocktake.
4. Wastage
Broken, spoiled, expired, or damaged stock? If you can't sell it, record it here.
5. Correction
Made a mistake in a previous entry? Use a correction to fix it while keeping your movement history accurate.
Correction is only available when recording a movement for a single product, not in bulk.
Recording stock movements
You can record stock movements in two ways:
Recording stock movements (single product)
Available on the Core, Plus, and Pro Plans. Works best for a quick adjustment or when you're updating stock for one specific product.
Select the Manage tab.
Select the Stock tile/widget.
Select the product you want to update from the list.
Select the Record stock button.
Select the movement type and enter the quantity.
If you select Transfer as the movement type, you'll also need to choose where you're sending the stock to.
If you select Wastage, you'll also need to choose a reason for the wastage: damaged, theft, expired, spillage/waste, or internal use.
If you select Correction, you'll need to select Add or Remove to correct the stock error.
Select the Record button.
The product's stock quantity updates immediately and a record is added to its stock history. Learn more about stock history.
Recording stock movements (bulk)
Available on the Pro Plan only. Works best when recording a delivery or stock transfer between stores for multiple products.
Go to the Manage tab.
Select the Stock tile/widget.
Select the Record stock button near the top of the screen.
Select the type of movement you want to record – transfer, receive, stock count, or wastage. If you have more than one location, select the location affected by the stock movement.
Choose which products the movement applies to – use the category filters at the top of the screen to narrow the list – then select the Continue button.
Enter the quantities for each product, then select the Review button.
Review the details for the stock movement and add an optional note (e.g. the name of the supplier), then tap the Confirm & record button.
💡 Good to know: The review step is where the audit trail is created. Once you confirm, the movement is saved against every product with a timestamp and your name.
The product's stock quantity updates immediately and a record is added to its stock history. Learn more about your stock history.
