Switching on your Neo Touch

To switch on your Neo Touch, press and hold the power button for 3 seconds. Once it’s on, follow the prompts on the screen to sign up (if you’re new to Yoco) or to log in (if you already have a Yoco profile).

✨ The Neo Touch accepts payments made with Visa and Mastercard debit and credit cards, AMEX cards, SASSA cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay.

To tap: Tap the card on the device screen.

For chip-and-PIN: Insert the card at the top of the device.

The Yoco Neo Touch has no card swiping functionality.

Connectivity and your Neo Touch

The Yoco Neo Touch comes with one free 4G Telkom SIM card with unlimited data for your Yoco transactions. The SIM card automatically switches between MTN and Vodacom, depending on which network offers the best coverage, to ensure optimal connectivity.

✨ The data on your Yoco SIM can only be used with your Neo Touch card machine. It cannot be used in any other device or to create a hotspot.

How to switch to WiFi on your device

  1. Tap on Settings (the cog icon) in the top left corner of the Neo Touch home screen.

  2. Tap Network & internet.

  3. Tap WiFi.

  4. Toggle the WiFi button to the ‘on’ position.

  5. Select your WiFi network and enter your password to connect to WiFi (recommended when transacting in areas with limited cellular reception).

Does your Neo Touch have two SIMs?

Earlier versions of the Neo Touch came with one free 4G SIM card, and a backup SIM card in the SIM slot. If you’re struggling with connectivity when making sales, you may have two SIM cards in your Neo Touch. Here’s how to switch them out.

  1. Use the SIM slot tool included in the box to unlock and gently remove the SIM card tray on the right hand side of your Neo Touch.

  2. You'll find two SIM cards in the tray: Your active SIM will be on the right, and the backup SIM on the left. Swop the SIM cards around, so that they're inserted in the opposite position.

  3. Slide the SIM card tray back into the card machine until it clicks into place.

Updating your Neo Touch software

Software updates improve the performance of your Neo Touch and enable new features that help you run your business even better. We'll let you know when an update is on its way. Look out for notifications in the Yoco App (mobile or web), and keep an eye on your inbox, too.

  1. Ensure that your Neo Touch has at least 30% battery power.

  2. Depending on the software version, your Neo Touch will simply start downloading the software in the background, or you’ll receive a pop-up giving you the option to skip the software download. You’ll still be able to accept payments while the download is happening.

  3. Once the download is complete (5–7 minutes), your Neo Touch will automatically restart to install the new software. The restart takes about five minutes.

  4. Once your Neo Touch has restarted, please reset your sales tools settings.

✨ Skipped the software download? You’ll be prompted to do it next time you restart your Neo Touch. Alternatively, you can download the software manually:

  1. Got to Settings (cog icon) on your card machine.

  2. Scroll down to About device.

  3. Select Software updates.

💡 Good to know: To check if you’re using the latest version of the Yoco POS App, search for ‘Yoco POS’ in Google Play (Android), the App Store (IOS) or the AppGallery (Huawei). If the page says Update, then select Update to install the latest version of the Yoco POS App.
