The Yoco POS App Explained

Learn Yoco POS App basics like where to download it, how to navigate it, and how to link it to your Yoco Go, Neo or Neo Touch card machine.

The Yoco POS App has everything you need for successful selling and checkouts, and works seamlessly with the Yoco App (mobile or web) to help you manage your business effectively.

What does the Yoco POS App do?

With the free Yoco POS App you can:

✔️ Process sales

Add the bill amount or individual products from your product catalogue to create and complete sales.

✔️ Send payment links

Use a payment link to securely request and receive payment from a customer without needing a card machine.

✔️ Record non-card payment methods

Capture cash and other payment methods (QR codes, vouchers, gift cards etc.) for record-keeping, reporting and insights.

Where does the Yoco App fit in?

The Yoco App (mobile or web) is your ‘back office’ where you:

  • Add, edit and/or remove products

  • Add, edit and/or remove brands and categories

  • Monitor stock

  • Add, edit and manage access for staff profiles

  • Add a list of your repeat customers for Yoco Invoices

  • Buy Yoco card machines

  • Access Yoco Capital

  • Access Yoco Invoices

  • Change your banking details, email address, mobile number, receipt settings, and check your Yoco balance, Yoco Plan, and more.

💡 Good to know: The Yoco POS App and Yoco App sync automatically, so that any changes you make in the Yoco App (mobile or web) – for example, adding new products or updating staff access – will immediately reflect in the Yoco POS App.

✨ Before you can take payments or receive payouts from Yoco, you need to sign up with Yoco and then complete your Yoco profile in the Yoco App (mobile or web).


Downloading the Yoco POS App

You can download the free POS App onto your mobile phone/tablet from the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, or Huawei AppGallery.

✨ To download the Yoco POS App, you’ll need access to WiFi or a maximum of 250MB of data.

  • Quad core CPU (recommended for the best experience)

  • Yoco App: Version 10.15.0 or above

Yoco supports most Android devices released in the past two years.

Huawei

Please note: If the Yoco POS App isn't available to download in the Google Play Store, your device hasn't met the minimum requirements.

Software updates

We're constantly enhancing the Yoco POS App, so we recommend updating it whenever a newer version becomes available.

Which version of the Yoco POS App are you using?

There are two ways to check which version of the Yoco POS App you have installed on your mobile phone or tablet.

Option 1

  1. Open the Yoco POS App.

  2. Select the More tab and tap on the Get Help tile.

  3. Scroll to the bottom of the screen to confirm which version of the POS App you have.

Option 2

  1. Search ‘Yoco’ in Google Play (Android), App Store (iOS) or AppGallery (Huawei).

  2. If the Yoco App page says ‘Update’, it means there’s a more recent version of the app available for you to download.

  3. Select Update to install this version.

Navigating the Yoco POS App

Once you’ve downloaded and installed the Yoco POS App on your mobile phone/tablet, you can log in using the same email address, mobile number and password you created when you signed up with Yoco.

At the bottom of the POS App screen, you'll find the following tabs for easy navigation:

  1. Sell tab – This is where you go to start a new sale and to accept payments via your Yoco card machine or payment link. Find out how to make sales with the Yoco POS App.

  2. History tab – This is where you'll find all your sales. Search them easily to refund a customer, make a note or resend a receipt.

  3. Reports tab (only available on the tablet version of the Yoco POS App) – Here you can view your total sales by day, week or month with a breakdown of payment type, products sold, staff sales, and more.

  4. More tab – Here you can access your device settings, manage your payment links and vouchers, get on-device help, or lock your screen.

✨ If you’re using the mobile version of the Yoco POS App, you can check your reports from the Hub tab in the Yoco App (mobile or web).


How to link the Yoco POS App to your card machine

Once you’ve downloaded the Yoco POS App (and had a look around), there are two ways you can link it to your Yoco Go or Neo Touch card machine(s) to create your POS solution.

Link in the Yoco POS App settings

  1. Log in to the Yoco POS App.

  2. Go to the More tab.

  3. Select Card Machines under the Manage Point of Sale section.

  4. A carousel will appear on your screen. When you see the card machine you want to link to the Yoco POS App, tap the blue This is my card machine button.

  5. Select the correct serial number for your card machine, and tap the blue Connect button. You’ll find the serial number on the back of your device.

Link with a ‘dummy’ transaction

  1. Open the Yoco POS App and tap on the Sell tab. If you’re using the mobile version of the Yoco POS App, the Sell tab is your home screen.

  2. Enter an amount over R2.00.

  3. If you’re using the tablet version of the Yoco POS App, go straight to step 4. If you’re using the mobile version of the Yoco POS App, tap the blue cart icon in the bottom right corner of the screen and wait for the New sale page to open.

  4. Tap on the blue Charge button at the bottom of the screen.

  5. Select Card as the payment method.

  6. A carousel will appear on your screen. When you see the card machine you want to link to the POS App, tap the blue This is my card machine button.

  7. Select the correct serial number for your card machine, and tap the blue Connect button. You’ll find the serial number on the back of the device.

  8. The tablet/smartphone running the Yoco POS App is now connected to your Yoco card machine.

  9. You can now cancel the ‘dummy’ sale you created, or continue the process to complete a test transaction using your bank card.

Top tips

The Yoco Go and Yoco Neo must first be connected via Bluetooth to the tablet/mobile phone running the Yoco POS App.

The Neo Touch should preferably be connected to the same WiFi as the smartphone/tablet running the Yoco POS App (no Bluetooth required).
