You’re on the Starter Plan if you signed up with Yoco under the Yoco Go Starter promotion, or you signed up without buying a card machine (online payments only), or you signed up with Yoco and took over ownership of one of the following card machines:

Good to know: If at any point you purchase a Yoco Khumo, Khumo Print or Neo Touch, you will automatically move from the Starter Plan to the Core Plan.

Starter Plan fees include transaction fees, which are dependent on your monthly sales, and a daily payout fee of R2.50 (incl. VAT).

Transaction fees are applied as a percentage of each transaction you process with Yoco and are worked out based on a sliding scale. In line with industry standards, your transaction fees are referred to excluding VAT. As your monthly turnover increases, we automatically lower your transaction fees – and never increase them again.

If you sign up with Yoco and choose online payments only, or you buy a used Yoco Neo, Yoco Lite, or Yoco Pro, and transfer ownership to yourself or your business, transaction fees of 2.95% (excl. VAT) will apply from your first sale.

If you sign up with Yoco and you buy a Yoco Go card machine through our eCommerce store or one of our retail partners, you’ll only be charged transaction fees after you’ve processed R5 000 in sales or 3 months have passed – whichever comes first. The 3-month period starts from the date you sign up with Yoco.

Once you’ve reached R5 000 or 3 months have passed, we’ll contact you to find out if you’d like to stay on the Starter Plan, or graduate to our Core Plan. If you stay on the Starter Plan, you’ll automatically pay a transaction fee of 2.95% (excl. VAT) on each sale you make. If you move up to the Core Plan and trade in your Yoco Go, you’ll qualify for a discount on a card machine better suited to your growing business needs – and enjoy lower transaction fees.

We are required by law to charge 15% VAT on all transaction fees. For example, if you make a sale for R100 with a transaction fee of 2.7% (excl. VAT):

Yoco fees (2.7% excl. VAT) = R2.70

SARS VAT (0.4%) = R0.40

Total fee (3.1% incl. VAT) = R3.10

Payout total = R96.90

If you’re registered for VAT, you can claim this back from SARS.

We charge a R2.50 (incl. VAT) payout fee per day that you transact. The payout fee is deducted from your daily transactions before the balance is paid into your Yoco account.
