Core Plan fees
Core Plan fees include transaction fees, which are dependent on your monthly sales, and a connectivity fee of R49 (incl. VAT) per card machine you transact with in a month. Find out more about the Core Plan connectivity fee here.
Transaction fees
Transaction fees are applied as a percentage of each transaction you process with Yoco and are worked out based on your transaction volumes. In line with industry standards, your transaction fees are referred to excluding VAT.
Core Plan card transaction fees range from 2.5% to 2.95% (ex. VAT) for in-person payments with a local or international card, and from 3.0% to 3.4% (ex. VAT) for in-person AMEX payments.
Core Plan transaction fees range from 2.55% to 2.95% (ex. VAT) for online payments made with a local card and from 3.0% to 3.4% (ex. VAT) for online payments made with an international or AMEX card.
Instant EFT fees are fixed at 2.0% (ex. VAT).
The more you transact, the less you pay
If, after using your Yoco card machine and/or our online payment tools for three months, your monthly turnover is more than R100 000, we’ll automatically reduce your transaction fees. And, once we’ve lowered your rates, we’ll never raise them again!

** To qualify for the lower rate, your turnover must average R100 000 or more per month over a 3-month period.
💡 Good to know: Around the world, online transactions cost 0.5% more than card machine fees. To balance this out, combine your card machine and online transaction totals to get even lower fees for both.

VAT on transaction fees
We are required by law to charge 15% VAT on all transaction fees. For example, if you make a sale for R100 with a transaction fee of 2.7% (ex. VAT):
Yoco fees (2.7% ex. VAT) = R2.70
SARS VAT (0.4%) = R0.40
Total fee (3.1% incl. VAT) = R3.10
Payout total = R96.90
If you’re registered for VAT, you can claim this back from SARS.
✨ Have you added your VAT number to your Yoco profile? This is critical to ensuring that the invoices and receipts you send to your customers, and the Yoco tax invoices we send you are correct. Quick, add your VAT number to your profile here!
Connectivity fees
You’ll be charged R49 (incl. VAT) per month for each stand-alone Yoco card machine (Neo Touch, Khumo, Khumo Print) you transact with in a month.
The monthly connectivity fee includes:
Free SIM cards with unlimited 4G data for all your Yoco transactions.
Connection to our platforms and servers for processing transactions.
Free replacement SIM (if required).
If you don’t use your card machine(s) in a specific month, you won’t be charged the connectivity fee.
Connectivity fee payment
The connectivity fee is deducted from your first payout in the month following the one in which you used your card machine. So, for example, if you used your card machine in January, the fee will be deducted from your first payout in February. If, however, your card machine is inactive in February, the connectivity fee will be carried over to the next month in which it’s active.
Once you’ve paid your connectivity fee(s) and your balance exceeds the minimum payout amount of R50, you’ll receive your first payout for the month.
Your connectivity fee will reflect on your Yoco tax invoice as shown below.
✨ Signed up mid-month? You’ll be charged a pro rata rate for the first month. For example, if you signed up on the 11th of January, R31.61 (20/31 * R49) will be deducted from your first payout in the month you next use your card machine.
💡 Good to know: If you’re a seasonal business, you only pay the connectivity fee for the months in which you transact. If you’re active one month but not the next, we’ll carry over the cost to the following month (and so on). If you don’t transact for more than three months, we’ll suspend your SIM and write off any fees still owing.
