Who's on the Original Plan?
If you joined Yoco before 20 November 2023, you’re on the Original Plan – unless you’re on a custom rate, in which case you're on our Pro Plan.
Original Plan fees
Original Plan fees include transaction fees, which are dependent on your monthly sales.
Transaction fees
Transaction fees are applied as a percentage of each transaction you process with Yoco and are worked out based on your transaction volumes. In line with industry standards, your transaction rates are referred to excluding VAT. As your monthly turnover increases, we automatically lower your transaction fee – and we won’t ever increase it again.
Original Plan transaction fees range from 2.6% to 2.95% (ex. VAT) for in-person card payments made with a local or international card, and online payments made with a local card.
Original Plan transaction fees range from 3.05% to 3.4% (ex. VAT) for in-person payments made with an AMEX card, and online payments made with an international or AMEX card.
Instant EFT fees are fixed at 2.0% (ex. VAT).

** To qualify for the lower rate, your turnover must average R100 000 per month over a 3-month period.
💡 Good to know: Around the world, online transactions cost 0.5% more than card machine fees. To balance this out, combine your card machine and online transaction totals to get even lower fees for both.
VAT on transaction fees
We are required by law to charge 15% VAT on all transaction fees. For example, if you make a sale for R100 with a transaction fee of 2.7% (ex. VAT):
Yoco fees (2.7% ex. VAT) = R2.70
SARS VAT (0.4%) = R0.40
Total fee (3.1% incl. VAT) = R3.10
Payout total = R96.90
If you’re registered for VAT, you can claim this back from SARS.
