How to set up your Neo Touch using the POS App

1. Link your Neo Touch to your Yoco profile

If you bought your Neo Touch from Yoco.com, it should already be linked to your Yoco profile and business, so you’ll be able to transact immediately.

If you bought your Neo Touch from a retail store or secondhand, and you haven’t signed up with Yoco yet, you can do that here. Then, follow these steps below to link your Neo Touch to your Yoco profile.

  1. Log in to the Yoco App (mobile or web).

  2. Go to your Business settings by tapping on your business name in the top right corner of the Yoco Mobile App, or clicking on it in the bottom left corner of the Yoco Web App.

  3. When the Business settings page opens up, select the Card machines tile.

  4. Select the Add card machine button.

  5. Enter the serial number for your Neo Touch – you’ll find it on the white sticker on the back of your device in the format S/N XXXXXXXXXXX (enter the numbers only).

  6. Select the blue Confirm button.

✨ Seeing an unknown error while trying to link your card machine? If your device was bought secondhand, it’s likely that the error is showing because the card machine is still connected to another Yoco profile. Find out how to transfer a card machine to another profile here.

💡Good to know: If you have more than one Yoco card machine linked to your Yoco profile, you can add a nickname for each one in the Yoco App (mobile or web) and the nickname will appear on the home screen of each device.

  1. Log in to the Yoco App (mobile or web).

  2. Go to your Business settings by selecting your business name in the top right corner of your screen (mobile app) or from the menu on the left of your screen (web app).

  3. Select the Card machines tile.

  4. Select the black Edit nickname button (look for the pencil icon).

2. Download the Yoco POS App on your mobile or tablet

💡 Good to know: The Yoco POS App is compatible with Android 8, iOS 12, Huawei Harmony OS 4.0, and higher.

✨ You’ll need access to WiFi or a maximum of 250MB of data to download the Yoco POS App.

3. Turn on your Neo Touch

Press and hold the power button on the right side of your Neo Touch for three seconds. Next, enter the email address or phone number linked to your Yoco profile, as well as the password you created when you signed up, and tap Log in.

Forgotten your password? Tap Forgot your password to reset your password using the link that’s sent to your phone or email. Use the same details you used when you sign up. Or, chat to us here.

Your Neo Touch will be in standalone mode until you link it to the Yoco POS App – you’ll see a welcome message and two tabs (History and Sales tools) on the home screen.

4. Connect your Neo Touch to the Yoco POS App

Please note: If you’ve ever connected another card machine to the Yoco POS App, turn this device off while you link the app to your new Neo Touch.

There are two ways to connect your Neo Touch card machine to the Yoco POS App:

But before you do, make sure that your Neo Touch is connected to the internet – look for a bold Y on the top left of the screen.

Connect in the Yoco POS App settings

  1. Open the Yoco POS App on your mobile or tablet.

  2. Go to the More tab and select the Card machine tile/widget.

  3. Select the Neo Touch card machine from the carousel options, then tap This is my card machine.

  4. Select the serial number for your card machine, and tap the blue Connect button – you’ll find the serial number on the back of your Neo Touch.

  5. Your Neo Touch is now connected to the Yoco POS App on your mobile/tablet.

Connect with a ‘dummy’ sale in the POS APP

  1. Open the Yoco POS App.

  2. Tap the Sell button and enter an amount over R2.00. If you’re using the Yoco POS App on your mobile, the Sell tab is your home screen.

  3. If you’re using the Yoco POS App on a tablet, go straight to step 4. If you’re using the Yoco POS App on your mobile, tap the blue cart icon in the bottom right corner of the screen and wait for the New sale page to open up.

  4. Tap the Charge button.

  5. Select Card as the payment method.

  6. Select the Neo Touch card machine from the carousel options, then tap This is my card machine.

  7. Select the Neo Touch with your serial number and tap Connect.

  8. Your Neo Touch is now connected to the Yoco POS App on your mobile/tablet.

  9. Cancel the dummy sale you created.

5. Customise your Neo Touch settings

Set up your Neo Touch (now connected to the Yoco POS App) with all the features you need for seamless payments. This customisation takes place in the Yoco App (mobile or web) – your ‘back office’ wherever you go.

Activating other payment methods

Cash payments are always activated as a payment method in the Yoco App (mobile or web) and all cash payments are recorded in your sales history (where you can filter them by payment type) for record-keeping and reporting purposes only.

💰 Cash payments don’t integrate with external payment providers because Yoco doesn't process cash payments, or charge fees for them.

💡Good to know: You can also enable the following payment methods for record-keeping and reporting purposes. To find out how, read here.

  • QR code (to accept online payments via a QR code like SnapScan)

  • EFT (to record sales paid via EFT from banking sites)

  • Delivery (to record deliveries separately)

  • Gift Card (to accept gift cards other than Yoco vouchers)

  • Free (to record free giveaways)

  • Online (to accept online payments not made through Yoco)

  • Account (to record sales for customers who have accounts with your business)

  • eWallet (to record sales from customers who prefer to pay into your eWallet)

  • Other (to record any other sales)

Please note: You can only refund cash and card payments (find out how to here). You can, however, resend receipts and view payment details for all payment methods.

Activating staff switching

Creating, editing, and deleting staff profiles, and generating PINs for staff is done through the Yoco App (mobile or web). Follow our step-by-step guide to creating, changing and removing staff profiles, adding and updating PINs, tracking sales for each staff member, and more.

Once you’ve created your staff profiles, you can use staff switching as follows, depending on whether you’re running the Yoco POS App on a tablet or your mobile:

Tablet

  1. Tap the current staff member’s name (displayed at the top of your screen).

  2. When the Select a user screen opens up, tap the name of the staff member who is switching.

  3. Ask the staff member to enter their PIN – their name will now appear on the screen.

Mobile

  1. Tap the More tab in the Yoco POS App.

  2. Tap the Lock widget/tile.

  3. Tap the name of the staff member switching and ask them to enter their PIN.

Activating tips

Your tips settings are managed in the Yoco App (mobile or web) and will be applied across all the card machines linked to your Yoco profile. To activate the tips setting:

  1. Log in to the Yoco App (mobile or web).

  2. Go to your Business settings by selecting your business name in the top right corner of your screen (mobile app) or from the menu on the left of your screen (web app).

  3. Select the Tip settings tile/widget.

  4. Toggle the switches to set how your business accepts tips from customers.

Personalising receipts

Before you start selling with your Neo Touch, take a moment to customise the receipts you’ll be sending or printing out for your customers in the Yoco App (mobile or web). You can add your business contact details, tagline, logo, and more. Click here to find out how.

6. Create your product catalogue

Creating a product catalogue isn’t a must (you can simply enter a bill amount each time you ring up a sale), but having one gives you valuable insights into what’s selling (and what’s not), and allows you to activate stock tracking so that you can manage product availability more effectively.

Click here to find out how you can set up your product catalogue and here to learn more about managing your stock.

7. Add a screensaver

Before you start selling with your Neo Touch, take a moment to add your logo or a branded image to your card machine – it’s a great way to create a personalised checkout experience for your customers! Click here for step-by-step instructions.
