Managing Other Payment Methods
Updated this week

You can use your Yoco card machines and/or the Yoco POS App to record other payment methods besides card payments! Just like with cash payments (always available as a payment option with Yoco), when you record a sale using one of your other payment methods, it'll form part of your Yoco Sales History for your records, reporting and insights.

Please note: Because Yoco doesn't process other payment methods or charge you for using them, you can't action a refund for them from your Yoco Sales History. You can still, however, resend receipts and view other payment details.

Where can I find the payment method settings?

Your Payment Methods Settings are located in the business settings (click on your business name) section of the Yoco Web/Mobile App.

There are ten payment methods available to you to activate for record keeping purposes. Card and Payment Link are always on and cannot be deactivated.

The payment methods shown are purely for record-keeping purposes and will not integrate with external payment providers directly.

The following payment methods can be activated:

  1. QR Code – Activate to accept online payments via a QR code like SnapScan.

  2. Cash – Activate to accept and record cash sales and refunds (always on).

  3. EFT – Activate to record sales paid via EFT (from banking sites).

  4. Delivery – Activate if you do deliveries and would like to record them separately.

  5. Gift Card – Activate to accept gift cards other than Yoco vouchers.

  6. Free – Activate to record free giveaways.

  7. Online – Activate if you accept other online payments (not through Yoco).

  8. Account – Activate if your customers have accounts with your business, where they can ring up several purchases over a set amount of time, before paying the total.

  9. eWallet – Activate if some customers prefer to use your cellphone number to pay into your eWallet via their banking apps.

  10. Other – Activate for anything else.

💡 To activate these payment methods, simply toggle the button on or off. Changing these payment methods will be reflected on all your Yoco card machines and your Yoco POS App.

Note about the new Yoco App settings: Any previously activated custom payment methods that you named, will remain active in your profile. However, should you deactivate and remove them, they will not reappear and you will only be able to use the predetermined payment methods shown above.

Where can I see the other payment method sales in my records?

Whenever you take another payment method to complete a sale with Yoco, it's recorded in your Sales History, along with all your other Yoco transactions. You'll be able to see immediately that it was paid by another payment method (not card), and can filter your Sales History by other payment method in the Yoco App.

From the Yoco Mobile/Web App here, go to the Sales tab and select the Sales History tile.

If you don’t spot the sale you’re looking for immediately, filter by Method and select Other. This will show you a list of only the sales paid for using other payment methods.

How do other payment method refunds work?

Other payment method refunds can be recorded in your Sales History, along with card refunds.

Note: Yoco does not supply the money for the refund – the refund is simply recorded for your convenience.

How to record the refund of another payment method

  1. Find the sale you want to refund in your Sales History on the Yoco Web/Mobile App, in the Yoco POS App, or on your card machine.

  2. Select 'Refund' and choose a reason for the refund. This is purely for your records, and won't be displayed anywhere else.

  3. Enter the refund PIN that's been sent to your phone (if you're performing a refund for the first time). You can request a new PIN at any time.

Note: The refund PIN will be sent to the mobile number linked to the Yoco profile.

  4. Transfer the money owed back to your customer, using the most convenient option based on the payment method used.

Struggling with the refund PIN? This is a special security measure for when refunds are done on Yoco card machines. The refund PIN will be sent in an SMS to the mobile number linked to your profile. If you're struggling, do the refund from the Yoco Mobile/Web App instead, using your admin login details.
