How to Use and Update your Personal Profile in the Yoco App

Learn to use your personal profile in the Yoco Mobile/Web App and discover how to update your details.

About your personal profile

Your personal profile is all about you, the business owner. It consists of personal information that includes your name, email address, phone number and Yoco password.

To access your personal profile, tap the initials icon in the top left-hand corner of the Yoco Mobile App or click on your name in the bottom left-hand corner of the Yoco Web App. Once you've selected your personal profile, you’ll land on the Personal settings page.

What can you do on the Personal settings page in your personal profile?

The Personal settings page in the Yoco Mobile/Web App has a series of tiles that allows you to view and update your personal details, change your password, get help, and more.

Let's take a closer look.

1. Personal details tile

Select the Personal details tile on the Personal settings page in the Yoco Mobile/Web App to view and change the following information:

  • Mobile number linked to your Yoco profile

  • Email address linked to your Yoco profile

  • Communication preferences (when you get emails from Yoco about your sales, tax invoices and stock).

Good to know: Please use your personal email address in your personal profile. This is your username for logging in to Yoco and will be used (along with your mobile number) to send you important messages about your profile and to securely reset your password – so it's important that they are kept up to date!

💡 You can’t change your name on the Personal details tile as this is the registered Yoco profile owner. Changing the profile owner can only be done by contacting Yoco Support via our in-app chat.

2. Reset password tile

Select the Reset password tile to change your personal Yoco password for logging in to the Yoco Mobile/Web App, Yoco POS App, and your Yoco card machines.

3. Get help tile

Select the Get Help tile to go directly to the Yoco Help Centre where you'll find loads of useful articles to help you answer your questions. OR select the blue chat icon in the bottom right corner of your screen to chat to a Yoco human for fast answers.

4. Legal tile

Select the Legal tile to view all relevant Yoco's legal documents, including the Terms and conditions, third party licenses and privacy policy.

5. Log out button

Select the Log out button in the top right corner of your screen to log out of your Yoco profile for security.


How to change your personal profile information in the Yoco App

  • Updating your personal profile details is always password protected.

  • Information may need to be verified before changes can be reflected.

  • Greyed out details require extra verification and can only be changed by contacting Yoco Support.

1. Changing your personal details

  1. Log in to the Yoco Mobile/Web App.

  2. Select your personal profile by tapping the initials icon in the top left-hand corner of the Yoco Mobile App or clicking on your name in the bottom left-hand corner of the Yoco Web App.

  3. When the Personal settings page opens up, select the Personal details tile.

  4. Select the Edit button on the right of the Personal details section.

  5. Change your email address and phone number.

  6. Select Save changes before leaving the page.

2. Changing your communication preferences

  1. Log in to the Yoco Mobile/Web App.

  2. Select your personal profile by tapping the initials icon in the top left-hand corner of the Yoco Mobile App or clicking on your name in the bottom left-hand corner of the Yoco Web App.

  3. When the Personal settings page opens up, select the Personal details tile.

  4. Select the Communication preferences tile.

  5. Toggle the switches to change when you get emails from Yoco about your sales, tax invoices and stock.

  6. Select Save changes before leaving the page.

3. How to reset your Yoco password (if you know what it is)

  1. Log in to the Yoco Mobile/Web App.

  2. Select your personal profile by tapping the initials icon in the top left-hand corner of the Yoco Mobile App or clicking on your name in the bottom left-hand corner of the Yoco Web App.

  3. When the Personal settings page opens up, select the Reset password tile.

  4. Enter your current password.

  5. Enter and confirm your new password.

  6. Select Save password.

  7. Check your email or SMS inbox for a message from Yoco, open it and select Reset here.

  8. Once the link opens in your browser, enter and confirm your new password, then select Submit.

  9. When you receive confirmation that your password has been changed, go back to the Yoco App and log in with your new password.

4. How to reset your Yoco password (if you've forgotten it)

  1. Go to the Yoco Mobile/Web App (or a Yoco card machine and/or the Yoco POS App) and select I forgot my password on the login screen.

  2. Enter the email address or mobile number linked to your Yoco profile.

  3. Press Reset my password.

  4. Check your email or SMS inbox for a message from Yoco, open it and select Reset here.

  5. Once the link opens in your browser, enter and confirm your new password, then select Continue.

    6. Congrats! You can now log in with your new password. 🙌


Personal profile details FAQs

What verification is required for updating personal profile details?

As an accountable financial institution, Yoco conducts KYC/FICA verification on all customers. We can fetch your data directly from Home Affairs, or you can manually upload an identity document (ID book, ID Smart Card, or passport) and we will match this document to your face. All Yoco customers are enrolled in our vetting and ongoing monitoring programmes where we check for any sanctions or money-laundering flags.


If I have a Yoco profile, will my details already be set up in my personal profile in the Yoco App?

Yes, your personal profile will contain the data you provided to Yoco during the sign-up process. There is however new information that is required, so make sure you review your personal and business profiles.


If I've already verified my profile details, will I need to do it again when I get the Yoco App?

No, you won’t have to verify your profile details again when you log in to the Yoco Mobile/Web App.


What information from my personal profile will be included on my Yoco receipts?

None of your personal information will appear on your receipts.


Which mobile number should I use in my personal profile?

Your personal profile is all about you, the business owner, so you can use your personal mobile number in your personal profile.


Can I use an international number in my personal profile?

Yes, you can use an international phone number in your personal profile.


Can I use a WhatsApp only number in my personal profile?

Ideally the number you use in your personal profile should be able to receive SMS notifications and phone calls. We use both of these communication methods to keep you informed about your Yoco profile.


Who else can see the mobile number in my personal profile?

We don't use the mobile number in your personal profile for any customer-facing products or services. However, if you use the same mobile number in your personal and business profiles, this number will be visible as if it were your business phone number.


What if it states that my number is already linked to another profile?

This means you've already signed up for a Yoco profile and linked your phone number to that profile. Please use a different phone number, or contact Yoco Support for help.


Can I use the same email address or mobile number for several Yoco profiles?

Unfortunately not, as your profile contact details form part of your unique Yoco login credentials and these need to be different for each profile.
