Yoco SIM Cards

Find out all about your Yoco-provided SIM card – how to keep it active, order a replacement, and insert it into your card machine.

Updated this week

The Neo Touch, Khumo, Khumo Print, and Yoco Counter all come standard with a free Telkom SIM card that roams between networks for enhanced connectivity.

Yoco-provided SIM cards…

  • Have unlimited data.

  • Are replaced free of charge (read our policy document here).

  • Can only be used in Yoco devices, and for Yoco transactions.

  • Won’t work in any other devices.

  • Can’t be used to create hotspots.

💡 Good to know: Earlier versions of the Khumo and Khumo Print card machines have dual SIM slots – one for an active SIM card, the other for a backup SIM card.

SIM card deactivation

SIM cards are typically flagged for deactivation when your business has:

  • Not processed any transactions for three consecutive months.

  • Demonstrated consistently low transaction activity over time.

If your SIM card has been flagged for deactivation, we’ll let you know via email and WhatsApp. You'll then have 14 days to keep your SIM active by processing a sale of R2.00 on any Yoco card machine.

💡 Good to know: SIM deactivations won’t affect your Yoco profile, sales history, or any other stored data.

Have more than one device with a SIM card flagged for deactivation? Reach out to our Support Team via our in-app chat about keeping one SIM active as a backup.

Requesting a new SIM card

If your SIM card has been deactivated or damaged, and you need to take payments using mobile data, please send our Support Team this message via our in-app chat: 'My SIM card is deactivated and I'd like to request a replacement.'

Your new SIM card will be delivered free of charge by our delivery partner, CCD Couriers. Find out more about their delivery process here.

💡 Good to know: Yoco-provided SIM cards are replaced free of charge. If your Khumo/Khumo Print card machine has two SIM slots and you order replacement SIMs, you’ll receive one Telkom SIM card that roams between networks.

Planning to sell your Yoco card machine? You can either order a replacement SIM card before you sell, or let the new owner know that they can order a free SIM card from Yoco at any time.

Inserting your new SIM card

Before you get ready to insert your new Yoco-provided Telkom SIM card, make sure that you've:

✔️ Powered off your Yoco card machine.

✔️ Got a standard SIM slot tool ready.

Use a standard SIM slot tool to unlock and gently remove the SIM card tray (you’ll find it on the side of your Yoco card machine).

2. Switch SIM cards

  3. Change the connection from WiFi or Bluetooth to SIM card.

💬 SIM Card FAQs

Can I use any SIM card in my Yoco card machine? No, you can only use a Yoco-provided SIM card in your Neo Touch, Khumo and/or Khumo Print card machine(s).

Can I still use my card machine if my SIM is deactivated? Yes, you can connect to WiFi and continue using your Neo Touch, Khumo and/or Khumo Print card machine(s), if your SIM card has been deactivated.
