Yoco Checkout API

Integrate Yoco payments into your website or app using the Checkout API – a secure, server-side payment integration.

Build Yoco payments into your own website or app. The Checkout API gives you a hosted, secure payment page you call from your server, letting you stay in control of your checkout, while Yoco takes care of the card data, security, and settlement.

All transactions appear in the Yoco App (mobile or web), where you can manage refunds and view payouts.

Why use the Checkout API?

  • You own the checkout

Embed Yoco into your custom-built site or app and design the flow around your brand. Yoco hosts the secure payment page, so card data never touches your server.

  • Simple, transparent pricing

A small fee per transaction, with no lock-in contracts or setup fees.

  • Multiple payment methods

Accept Visa and Mastercard debit and credit cards, plus Apple Pay and Google Pay, out of the box.

  • Test before you go live

Test end-to-end in sandbox without moving real money or affecting live transactions.

  • Server-side and secure

The Checkout API is called from your server, giving you a trusted, verifiable result for every payment.

✨ With transparent fees and no lock-in contracts or setup fees, the Checkout API is built to grow with your business.

Getting set up with the Checkout API

  1. Sign up with Yoco and complete your profile so you can start getting paid out.

  2. Log in to the Yoco App (mobile or web).

  3. Go to the Sales tab.

  4. Select the e-Commerce integrations tile/widget.

  5. Select the Checkout API tile/widget.

  6. When the Checkout API page opens up, select the How to connect button in the top right corner of your screen.

  7. When the side screen opens up, scroll down to Verified domains and select the Add domain button.

  8. Add your website domain.

💡 Good to know: We'll review your domain to unlock online payments and let you know the outcome in the Yoco App. As soon as your domain's been verified, your live keys will unlock.

  9. While you wait for your domain to be verified, copy your test keys to start building.

✨ You can verify up to three domains for your business. If a domain is rejected, it stays in your list with a maximum of 10 rejected domains shown.

  10. Head to the developer hub and follow the quickstart guide to build your integration using the available SDKs.

  11. Set up your server-side integration:

    • Register a webhook to receive payment updates.

    • Create a checkout session from your server.

    • Redirect your customer to the Yoco-hosted payment page.

    • Confirm each payment via the webhook.

Important: Always call the Yoco API from your server, never from the browser. This keeps your secret keys safe and gives you a verifiable result for every payment.

  12. Test in sandbox mode.

  13. Once testing is complete and your domain has been verified, go back to e-Commerce integrations → Checkout API → How to connect to copy your live keys.

  14. Replace your test keys with the live keys so you can start accepting real payments from customers.

✨ You and your customer will receive a payment confirmation after each successful transaction. To view payment details for all sales, select the Sales history tile in your Sales tab in the Yoco App (mobile or web).
