How to Change your Personal Details

It’s easy to change your mobile number and email address in the Yoco App. Here’s how.

Your email address and mobile number are stored in the Personal details tile/widget in your Personal settings in the Yoco App (mobile or web).

💡 Good to know: The email address in your personal settings is your username for logging in to Yoco and will be used (along with your mobile number) to send you important messages about your profile and to securely reset your password – so it's important that you keep both up to date.

Please note:

  • Updating your personal settings is always password protected.

  • Information may need to be verified before changes can be reflected.

  • Greyed out details require extra verification and can only be changed by contacting Yoco Support via our in-app chat.

  1. Log in to the Yoco App (mobile or web).

  2. Click on the initials icon or your name in the bottom left corner of the Yoco Web App, or tap on it in the top right corner of the Yoco Mobile App.

  3. Select the Personal details tile/widget in your Personal settings.

  4. Select the Edit button next to the personal details section.

  5. Change your email address and/or mobile number.

    💡 Good to know: You won't be able to change the profile owner name without help from Yoco Support. Please contact them via our in-app chat.

    ❌ Seeing the message ‘For security reasons, business owners cannot change their details. If your details are incorrect, please contact Yoco support.’ when you try to update your email address/mobile number? This is probably because you’ve signed up for multiple Yoco profiles with the same mobile number. To resolve this issue, please chat to a Yoco consultant via our in-app chat.

  6. A confirmation SMS will be sent the the mobile number currently linked to your Yoco profile. Click the link in the SMS to approve the change you are making to your email address and/or mobile number.

    💡 Good to know: If you no longer have access to the mobile number linked to your Yoco profile, please contact Yoco Support via our in-app chat for assistance.

  7. Select the Save changes button.


👤 Personal details FAQs

What verification does Yoco need to update my personal details? As an accountable financial institution, Yoco conducts KYC/FICA verification on all merchants who are also enrolled in our vetting and ongoing monitoring programmes where we check for any sanctions or money-laundering flags.

To update your mobile number and/or email address, you'll need to contact Yoco Support via our in-app chat, answer their security questions, and provide them with the following:

  • Your new email address and/or cellphone number.

  • A clear photo of your ID (front and back if you have a smart ID card). Please note that copies and scanned documents are not accepted.

If I have a Yoco profile, will my personal details be pre-loaded in the Yoco App? Yes, the data you provided to Yoco during the sign-up process will be saved in the Personal details tile/widget in your Personal settings.

Will any of my personal information appear on my Yoco receipts? The mobile number that appears in your Business details is automatically set to appear on your receipts. You can easily remove it by following these steps:

  1. Log in to the Yoco App (mobile or web).

  2. Select your business name to open your Business settings.

  3. Select the Receipt settings tile.

  4. Select the Edit button next to the Details heading.

  5. Look for the phone number option and toggle the button to hide it on your receipts.

  6. Save your changes.

Can I use an international number in my personal details? Yes, you can use an international phone number in your Personal details.

Can I use a WhatsApp-only number in my personal settings? It's best to use a mobile number that receives SMS notifications and phone calls as we use both of these communication methods to keep you informed about your Yoco profile.

Can I use the same email address and/or mobile number for several Yoco profiles? Unfortunately not, your profile contact details form part of your unique Yoco login credentials and these need to be different for each profile.
