Yoco Payment Links: FAQs
Updated over 3 weeks ago

With Yoco Payment Links, taking an online payment is as easy as sending a text! Now you can accept payments online, no website or card machine needed. Payment Links means it’s so easy that anyone can sell remotely! Take contactless payments to the next level, and tap into the power of chat and social commerce with Yoco Payment Links.

How does it work?

It really is as simple as sending a link from your Yoco Mobile App or Yoco Web App. You’ll add an amount or select your products, and send your unique link via Email, SMS, DM, WhatsApp, any social media or online platform — pretty much anywhere. From the Yoco Web App, you can copy your link and paste it anywhere. You can send the link directly via SMS, email or WhatsApp straight from the Yoco Mobile App. If you're using the Yoco POS, you can also send a payment link when finalising a bill.

Your customer clicks the link, and pays securely online, using either their card details, Instant EFT or Apple Pay, and 3DS authentication. You’ll get a payment notification. That’s it. Simple.

Are online payments with Payment Links safe?

We use 3D Secure authentication for all our online payments — this means that your customer will receive a ‘One Time PIN’ from their bank as part of the payment process.

The entire Yoco ecosystem is internationally recognised and certified as secure by Visa, Mastercard, and EMVCo (the official certifiers of Tap, Chip and PIN card readers worldwide). We're also fully PCI compliant. We're proud of our sophisticated risk monitoring, to detect and deal with fraud.

How do I know the customer has paid?

You can track all your Payment Links, whether paid or unpaid, in your Yoco Mobile App or Yoco Web App. You get an email notification every time a customer pays, and you can see a detailed record of all payments on your Sales History. You can also send your customers reminders, or delete links if they're no longer needed.

What are the transaction fees?

For online payments, our transaction fees range from 2.55% to 2.95% for Visa/Mastercard payments, and for international and AMEX cards it ranges between 3% and 3.4% - depending on your turnover and fees package. Online payments incur a minimum fee of R2.26 per transaction. Instant EFT has a fixed 2% (ex VAT) fee - with same day settlement.

The more you transact, the less you pay.
