How to Deactivate your Yoco Profile

Find out how to deactivate your Yoco profile, what to expect afterwards, and where to get help if you need it.

Contact Yoco Support through our in-app chat and let a consultant know you'd like to deactivate your profile.


What happens next?


→ Outstanding payouts

If there are any outstanding payouts, we'll settle them into the bank account linked to your Yoco profile before we deactivate your profile.

→ Yoco balance

If your Yoco Balance has a negative balance, you’ll need to transact and clear it before we can deactivate your account.

→ Profile and data

What happens to your profile depends on whether you've processed any transactions.

  • If you've never processed a transaction, we'll delete your Yoco profile and all associated information. You'll be able to sign up again in future using the same email address and mobile number.

  • If you've processed transactions, we're required by FICA regulations to keep your information for at least five years. Your profile will remain inactive, and we can switch off all Yoco communications.

If you're still receiving emails or messages from Yoco after closing your account, it doesn't mean your account is still active. In some cases, it’s because we're required to keep certain customer records for regulatory reasons. If you'd like to stop receiving communications from us, please contact Yoco Support through our in-app chat and we'll help.

Before we can deactivate your profile, you’ll need to remove your card machine from your Yoco profile. You’ll also need to do this if you plan to sell it or give it to someone else. Is there a fee to deactivate my account? No, deactivating your account is free. There are no cancellation fees, penalties or notice periods.

Can I reopen my account after deactivating it? If your profile was deleted because you never processed a transaction, you can sign up again using the same email address and mobile number. If your profile was retained for regulatory reasons, please contact Yoco Support and we'll help you understand your options.

What if I want to take a break instead of deactivating my account? You don't need to deactivate your account if you just want to stop using Yoco for a while. Simply stop transacting. Your profile will stay active, and you can start using Yoco again whenever you're ready.

I deactivated my account months ago. Why does my profile still exist? If you've processed transactions with Yoco, we're legally required to keep your information for at least five years under FICA regulations. This doesn't mean your account is active. It simply means we're meeting our regulatory obligations.
