Troubleshooting the Barcode Scanner

Find out how to fix your barcode scanner and get back to ringing up sales.

Barcode scanner not working? Follow the steps below to identify the problem and get it sorted, so you can keep your checkout running smoothly.


Connectivity issues


Barcode scanner in sleep mode

Press the scan trigger button once to reconnect the barcode scanner to the Yoco POS App. If that doesn’t work, follow the steps for Barcode scanner connection lost.

  1. Open the Yoco POS App.

  2. Go to the More tab.

  3. Tap the Barcode scanner button.

  4. Tap the Scanner not working? Troubleshoot scanner link at the bottom of the screen.

  5. Scan the barcode on the screen to factory reset the barcode scanner.

    Important: Before you scan the barcode to initiate a factory reset, check that your barcode scanner is disconnected from all devices.

    1. Log in to the Yoco POS App.

    2. Select the More tab from the menu on the left of your screen.

    3. Select the Barcode scanner button.

    4. Locate the scanner you want to disconnect.

    5. Tap the Forget scanner button.

    6. Tap Next when the pink light starts flashing (this means the device is in pairing mode).

  6. Tap Next when the pink light starts flashing (this means the device is in pairing mode).

  7. Select your barcode scanner using the last 4 digits of its serial number to identify it – you’ll find the serial number underneath the scanner and the charging dock.

  8. When the light turns blue, the barcode scanner is connected.

💡 Good to know: You can also follow the steps above to reconnect your barcode scanner to the Yoco POS App after you’ve paired it with a non-Yoco device.


Sale issues


Barcode being scanned, but product not being added to sale

  1. Open the Yoco POS App.

  2. Go to the More tab.

  3. Tap the Barcode scanner button.

  4. Tap the Scanner not working? Troubleshoot scanner link at the bottom of the screen.

  5. Scan the barcode on the screen to factory reset the barcode scanner.

    Important: Before you scan the barcode to initiate a factory reset, check that your barcode scanner is disconnected from all devices.
