Barcode scanner not working? Follow the steps below to identify the problem and get it sorted, so you can keep your checkout running smoothly.
Scanner isn't scanning OR Scanner is scanning, but no items are being added to sale
If you're experiencing one of these issues, start by trying to reconnect your barcode scanner by following the steps below.
Open the Yoco POS App.
Go to the More tab.
Tap the Barcode scanner button.
Tap the Scanner not working? Troubleshoot scanner > link at the bottom of the screen.
Scan the barcode on the screen – this gives your barcode scanner a factory reset.
❗Important: Before you scan the barcode to initiate a factory reset, check that your barcode scanner is disconnected from all devices.
Log in to your Yoco Counter or your tablet running the Yoco POS App.
Select the More tab from the menu on the left of your screen.
Select the Barcode scanner button.
Locate the scanner you want to disconnect.
Tap the Forget scanner button.
Tap Next when the pink light starts flashing (this means that the device is in pairing mode).
Select your barcode scanner using the last 4 digits of its serial number to identify it – you’ll find the serial number underneath the scanner and the charging dock.
When the light turns blue, the barcode scanner is connected.
💡 Good to know: You can also follow the steps above to reconnect your barcode scanner to the Yoco POS App after you’ve paired it with a non-Yoco device.
Scanner still not working?
If you've tried a factory reset (steps above) and your barcode scanner still isn't scanning, the battery may be critically low or flat. You can confirm this by checking the light on top of the scanner and listening for the appropriate sound.
Status | Light colour | Sound |
Low battery mode (<10%) | Yellow light blinks slowly | No sound |
Battery depleted | No light | Five beeps |
To fix a low or depleted battery, place your device in the charging cradle and allow it to charge for 10–20 minutes. Check for the steady red light on your barcode scanner to confirm that it's charging.
💡 Good to know: The barcode scanner takes about three hours to charge fully when plugged into a USB wall adapter (up to 5V/600–1000mA). If you charge it via the cradle or your Counter it takes 6–8 hours.
If your device fails to charge, or if charges but you still can't power it on, please contact Yoco Support via our in-app chat for help.
