Get started with Yoco for Shopify

Step 1: Sign up with Yoco

You must have a Yoco profile to receive payments with Yoco. No profile? Sign up now. Already part of our community? Move on to the next step.

Step 2: Install Yoco for Shopify

  1. Log in to your Shopify store.

  2. You’ll be redirected to the Shopify Admin page where you’ll click ‘Install’.

  3. You’ll now be redirected to the Yoco Web App. If you’re not logged in or you don’t have an account with Yoco, log in or sign up to continue. If you’re already logged in, confirm your Shopify store name and Yoco business account name (this step is especially important if you have more than one) and click ‘Continue’.

  4. When the app is installed, click ‘Go back to your Shopify store’.

  5. Click ‘Activate Yoco’ at the bottom of the screen. Yes, it really is that simple!

  6. Click ‘Save’ each time you make a change to the app settings.

Step 3: Perform a test transaction

We recommend that you complete a test transaction to make sure everything is running smoothly. Follow the steps below make sure that Yoco Payments is installed and activated and then try processing a small amount (at least R2.00) for payment.

  1. In Shopify select ‘Settings > Payments > Supported payment methods > Provider Yoco Payments > Manage’.

  2. Enable Test mode by selecting the box ‘Enable test mode > Save’.

  3. Start your testing!


Notifications

You and your customers will receive Yoco payment confirmation emails whenever a transaction is successfully completed. Find out more about managing your Yoco communication preferences here.


Shopify subscription fees

Shopify fees are separate to Yoco transaction fees. You can read more about our transparent sliding scale fees here.


Deactivating the Yoco application

  1. Click Settings > Payments on your Shopify store dashboard.

  2. Scroll down to the bottom of the Yoco screen and click ‘Uninstall Yoco’.


Do you have more than one Yoco Business Account and Shopify online store?

Follow these steps to make sure you’re installing the correct Shopify store with the right Yoco Business account:

  1. Log out of the Yoco Web App and Shopify Admin for all your stores.

  2. Open a new browser window and open the Yoco Web App in one tab and Shopify Admin in another.

  3. Log in to the Yoco App and check the business name and Shopify website name – you should be logged in to the business and store profiles you’re installing the Yoco Payment plugin for.

  4. Open this link and make sure that the account belongs to the correct Shopify store before you click ‘Install’.

  5. Once the plugin has been installed, complete a test transaction. When you’re directed to the Yoco payment page and asked to add your card details/select another payment method, make sure that the correct Yoco Business name is displaying on the checkout page.

Repeat this process for each of your Yoco Business accounts and Shopify online stores.
