1. Sign up with Yoco

Sign up with Yoco and complete your profile so that you can start getting paid out.


2. Install Yoco for Shopstar on your website

  1. Log in to your Shopify store – you’ll be be redirected to the Shopify Admin page.

  2. Click Install.

  3. You’ll now be redirected to log in to the Yoco Web App.

  4. Confirm your Shopify store name and Yoco business account name (this is especially important if you have more than one), and click Continue.

  5. When the app is installed, select Go back to your Shopify store.

  6. Select Activate Yoco at the bottom of the screen.

Yoco is now linked to your Shopify website and you’re ready to take payments! 🎉

💡 Good to know: Make sure you select the Save button every time you make a change to the app settings.


3. Complete a test transaction

We recommend testing the integration by processing a payment of at least R2.00. This will help you confirm that everything is working smoothly.

  1. In the Shopify app select Settings > Payments > Supported Payment Methods > Provider Yoco Payments > Manage.

  2. Enable Test mode by selecting Enable Test Mode > Save.

  3. Start testing.

What transaction fees will I pay? Your Yoco transaction fees will be determined by which Yoco Plan you’re on. To check your fees, select the Money tab in the Yoco App (mobile or web).

I have more than one Yoco profile and Shopify store. How do I make sure I install the right store with the right Yoco profile?

  1. Log out of the Yoco Web App and Shopify Admin for all your stores.

  2. Open a new browser window, then open the Yoco Web App in one tab and Shopify Admin in another.

  3. Log in to the Yoco Web App and check the business name and Shopify website name – you should be logged in to the business and store profiles you’re installing the Yoco Payment plugin for.

  4. Open this link and check that the account belongs to the correct Shopify store.

  5. Select the Install button.

  6. Once the plugin is installed, complete a test transaction. When you’re directed to the Yoco payment page and asked to add your card details/select another payment method, check that the correct business name is displaying on the checkout page.

  7. Repeat this process for each of your Yoco profiles and Shopify online stores.

How do I deactivate the Yoco app from my Shopify store?

  1. Click Settings > Payments on your Shopify store dashboard.

  2. Scroll down to the bottom of the Yoco screen and select the Uninstall Yoco button.
