How to Integrate Yoco with your Online Store

Learn how to connect Yoco to your online store so you can start accepting payments quickly and securely.

Yoco Gateway is a secure e-commerce payment solution that lets you accept Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and other payment methods on your website. It’s works with Shopify, WooCommerce, Wix, Shopstar, and custom-built platforms, giving your customers a smooth, familiar checkout.

Yoco Gateway is simple to set up, and makes excellent business sense.

✔️ Fast, secure transactions.

✔️ A smooth checkout experience that matches your brand.

✔️ Fewer losses from late or failed payments.

✔️ Built-in protection against fraud, expired cards, and insufficient funds.

How Yoco Gateway works

When a customer pays on your website, Yoco Gateway handles the payment securely in the background. An API connects your website to Yoco, card details are passed safely to the customer's bank, and the bank approves or declines based on available funds – all within seconds.

How you connect depends on your platform:

Shopify takes care of the connection in the background. When you install the Yoco app from Shopify, your store is linked to your Yoco profile automatically — there's no separate connection step to complete yourself.

WooCommerce, Wix, Shopstar, and custom-built platforms connect using a Yoco app or plugin that you link to your Yoco profile. You manage this connection from the Yoco App (mobile or web), which handles the link securely so your store can start taking payments.

👩‍💻 APIs made easy

  • API: a way for two systems to 'speak' to each other. For online payments, it's how your website connects to Yoco so payments can be completed.

  • Secure connection: proves the link between your website and Yoco is authorised, so only your store can send payment requests to Yoco. You set this up and manage it from the Yoco App (mobile or web) – never by copying anything into a public or shared space.

💡 Good to know: We recommend a Yoco card machine so your in-person and online sales sit together in one place – one home for payments, reconciliation, and reporting. Don't have one yet? Browse our card machines on yoco.com.
